A very special announcement!!

The Inaugural season is over and the winners are.....

Regular Season Winner

What makes it the best is that they are married!!
So we will be sending them the trophies this week and once they get them and send us photos I will post.

I hope you all had as much fun as we did! I think we will take a few weeks off and try again. I have learned a few things to make it go more smoothly and so it will be more fun. If you are interested in bowling again let us know. We will check with everyone in a few weeks!

Another Week, Another Round of Goodbyes

This week saw some hard-fought battles.  Sadly, we must say goodbye to more of our bowling friends.  Jessica bowled a strong 232, but still lost to Beth.  Goodbye, Jessica.  We will miss your enthusiastic participation!  Allisone and Ashley are both leaving us this week, but both have bowled well and have played along with our reindeer games, which we appreciate.  Billie lost to Carter, but she put forth a valiant effort - and let's not forget that she has a baby under the age of 1 to take care of!  Bob suffered a loss at the hands of Charlotte, but considering how much he loves her, he might have taken a dive.  The Ettinger clan is no longer represented as we lose both J.D. and Russ this week.  Thanks for playing, guys!  You represented Michigan well.  And I, your fearless leader, have exited the tournament as well.  Darn Adrienne and her 257!

This coming week features some serious battles.  Beth is taking on the formidable Joe.  Could this be the upset of the tourney?  Adrienne and Carter will bowl to see who rules their household on the Wii lanes.  Can their relationship survive this epic battle?  (The answer is "yes," but I was trying to be dramatic)  Inconsistent Charlotte will take on fairly consistent Andrew.  It will all come down to which Charlotte shows up!  Our final match up will be David versus Kate.  Kate has been a strong competitor, but David has the skills to get the job done.

Tune in next week to see who is victorious... and who is finished in this tournament.

If you're still bowling, please get your scores to me by Wednesday p.m.  THANKS!

Updated Bracket

na na na na hey hey good bye

This week we say goodbye to some worthy adversaries!
First we must bid adieu to Tonia, Rachel and Abby of the Michigan Ettinger clan. Abby almost beat Bob, but alas their time has come. J.D. and Russ are still representing!

Then we say goodbye to Alice, Jana and Greta. Spring schedules have been rough on the league.

Sibyl put up her best score to date but it wasn't enough to best Allisone who moves forward.

Goodbye dear friends. Know that we will adjust the league and start again this summer!!

Now for this week's match ups. Beth takes on Jessica from AZ. A tough match, both have done well so it is anyone's game.

Top seeded Joe takes on Ashley (Allisone's daughter and owner of the moustache collection) which should be fun. Can she pull out a victory over Joe who has only won the weekly bowling once? Watch this one folks!!

Next up is Adrienne against our own league commissioner Sue. This will be no problem for Adrienne EXCEPT Sue never gives up. Her grit and determination make this match up interesting.

Billie takes on Carter. Billie is fresh off her confidence building 202 game last week. Can she keep the momentum going or will number 4 seeded Carter show her who's the boss?

Andrew from AZ takes on Allisone. Both like to have fun and both are good bowlers. My money is on whoever is having more fun this week to come away the winner.

Bob vs. Charlotte! A battle royale!! What more is there to say.

Russ takes on David (Allisone's husband) David is a very consistent bowler but Russ may have something to say about that!

And mighty J.D. takes on number 2 seeded Kate. JD is our youngest bowler still in contention and he has a tough draw over number 2 seeded Kate. Guess he will have to be calm cool and collected and bowl like mad to be this year's Cinderella story.

SO there you have it. BOWL people!! Please send me your score by Wed night please!! Have fun!!

last week in regulation play

Charlotte won the last week (remember she won the first week too!) and won a $10 gift card to Subway! YAHOO! Below is the bracket. The top 9 seeds have a week off with an automatic bye into the tourney. Some interesting match ups.... and interestingly all the match ups are of people who probably don't know each other! I will do some head to head intros on the blog this week!

Same rules apply- bowl 3 games send in your best score! If you send a pic of yourself in a fun costume all the better!
Happy bowling and sorry I was so late getting this up!

Week 5- Blindfolded!

OK, lots to share with you!
First off this next week is the last week in the regular season. Then we go to a single elimination bracketed tournament. Just like March Madness but in February! I will email you the bracket after next week's scores. Then you bowl and send me your score each week beating your competitor to a pulp until one person rises to the top, victorious! We have a trophy, and it is quite special.

Next, much news. Jen and Skip had to withdraw due to some health issues with Skip. Sounds like things are not going well so please keep good thoughts for them. I am sorry they were never bowler of the week, but maybe next season.

ALSO< this week some people had great games....
like Billie- best score ever for her!!!
AND for my most positive bowler friend Greta from Cincinnati!! Who bowled 4 strikes in a row!! YEAH!!

This weeks scores are up! Congrats to Kate who is leading the pack!

Lastly, I wanted to thank those who tried bowling blindfolded.....

Including Russ who bowled a 177 with his hoodie on backwards!

And Ashley....

Who will be getting this in the mail this week

For winning moustache week. Sorry I am late!

Lastly, I wanted to let Allisone know that I took a point away from her score. She got the lowest score this week because she didn't bowl. WHY didn't she bowl? Well she is in Bermuda. She gets -1 point. The commissioner is a meanie when others are in the sun and I am still looking at piles of snow.

STANDINGS TO DATE

Here is a look at the current standings...
Our league average is 179. Not too shabby folks!

On top of the leader board are Kate and Joe! Way to go!

It is interesting that Joe has never won a week but is in the lead. Consistency is his secret weapon! Also, please note that I am not even bowling the league average. Bummer. Whose idea was this anyway??
Don't forget to bowl and bowl blindfolded for the 3rd frame!!

Week 4 scores

Better late than never. Me and the snow plow people have to keep working even when everyone else gets a snow day. Argh!

Good week and thanks to everyone who participated with your moustache wearing selves. I am excited that Ashley is our high bowler this week. She is the daughter of a twitter friend of ours Allisone. Ashley was stoked for Moustache week as she has her own collection of fake staches ready at all times. She was right in the spirit of things!!!

Great week! Now for next week.....

This was a suggestion from Jessica and Andrew. How about bowling blindfolded? I was going to suggest a whole game, but it might be hard for those bowling solo. So how about this.....

Bowl the third frame of each of your games blindfolded. Or at least with your eyes closed. Let me know if you try it. With some of our scores it honestly couldn't hurt.

Sorry again about the delay!

Moustache Week!!

Charlotte and Carter sporting the stache!

Adrienne looking devious!

Annika the dog who got into the spirit. Annika belongs to Allisone and David.

This is Allisone and David who are doing an American Gothic pose.

Ashley, who has her own moustache collection!

The bib with her cool stache!

Bob and Beth added the Moustache to their Miis

Bowler of the Day!

Our bowler(s) of the day- Beth (and Bob)

Bob was our friend first. He dated another friend of ours and after they broke up, we kept Bob. Kinda like a pet, but much less work. Then he met Beth and we were instantly friends. Beth went to Disney last Spring with us which is where this photo comes from. She was raised in California by a hippy mom. Beth has countless stories of very fun, weird and wonderful things that happened to her during her life. Beth used to be a paralegal but now works for Penn as does Bob. Bob has the softest hands you have ever felt as he is a computer guy so spends a lot of his day typing away. Bob can drink more beer than I have ever seen anyone drink. When Bob and Beth wanted to get married, I did the ceremony for them. Now they live in Philly and are crazy cat people with 10 cats! Those are a lot of facts about Bob and Beth. Bob's birthday was Jan. 31st and Beth's is Feb 9th so happy birthday to them both!!

Ettinger Family - bowlers of the day!

Meet the Ettinger family! They sent me these photos this morning for moustache week and I was so excited I am making them bowlers of the day!
JD, Abby, Rachel and Tonia

Russ and JD again -- Scores have been with held so you are not discouraged from bowling yourself!
Russ and Tonia and Charlotte all went to college together and they are like family. They live in Grand Rapids, MI which is a very nice town and the only place I would ever live in the state of Michigan. Although it snows there every day.
Russ and Tonia have 3 kids JD, their oldest is very smart. He has a pet snake that is very cool. He also is a mythbuster in training and always has some projects going. Rachel is the second in line and she is also very intelligent and caring. She loves to read and play games and sing. Abby is the youngest and full of fun. She is a very good artist and very imaginative. Abby is very cute, and she knows that and uses it to her advantage which is something I like! Tonia is a teacher and probably one of the best people I know to have a conversation with. I admire the way she really considers things as she discusses them. She loves a good glass of wine, a good book and good friends. Russ is the king of the beach. His official job is to be in charge of a YMCA but on the weekends he is a beach volleyball player and we saw him win a championship once! (I think he wins alot when we are not there too!) He loves movies and knows how to make the perfect ranch popcorn.

The Ettingers are just plain fun as is evident by these photos. They even made their mii's have mousetaches!

Yahoo for the Ettingers! Don't forget to bowl!

Scores are up! Week 3 (music week)

I sure hope you all are having as much fun as I am with this! I love to think of all of you out there bowling away!

This week something special happened. Someone bowled a perfect game!
This week's winner--- KATE!!! with a perfect 300!
And Joe her husband was the second place finisher with 259!

Some interesting facts for this week-
While some people (cough KATE cough) were perfect- less people bowled over 200 this week than last. However, our lowest score (poor JD with 140) was highest than it has ever been. Which was good for Jana who forgot to bowl! Good week for that.

Some people are amazingly consistent. I do want to point out that our youngest bowlers are holding their own. Both Rachel and Abby who are both under 12 beat Charlotte this week.

As far as music was concerned, you will be glad to know a wide variety of songs helped us get to the great scores. As well as some well deserved silence for some of the parents of babies!!

Music must have helped us as our average was up this week- to 226!

Bowlers rocked out to
  • songs from the Big Lebowski soundtrack
  • the Smiths
  • Ween
  • The Fresh Prince (Will Smith)
  • Journey
  • and more!
AMAZING WEEK!!
By now hopefully you have gotten your moustaches in the mail! It's moustache week this week. One extra pin  will be added to you score to any of you who send in your photo with your score and your stache! Or just you in the stache is fine too.

Have a great week!

Kate's perfect score!

This is a selection from the Big Lebowski.. from the playlist of Allisone and family as well as Jessica and Andrew!

Another bowler of the day!

This is my friend Sibyl. You can call her the Bib. She is a great friend and an all around good person. I met the Bib about 8 and a half years ago. She is a nanny, at the time she was a nanny for twins! We became friends and I helped her run a nanny group that she had started. The Bib is very loyal and supportive. Whenever I need her she is there for me. Charlotte and I have also nicknamed her the onion. Because every time we would spend time with her, we would learn something new about her. There are many layers to my friend Sibyl. The most important thing is happening right now to the Bib. SHE IS HAVING A BABY!!!! I am very excited because I know how much she wanted this and how she had to go through a lot to get to this place. I hope the baby is a good bowler.

A new bowler of the day

Jana is our bowler of the day! Meet Jana with her family!
Those large fuzzy guys are not her kids.... one is her husband and the other two of course are from Disney World.
We know Jana from the blogging world. Here are some important facts about Jana.
She has a Disney bathroom.
She has three lovely girls.
She is very funny.
We have never met in person but hope to someday.
I asked her to answer some questions so you could get to know her better...

Where did you grow up?

I grew up just outside of St. Louis, Missouri.
What do you do for a living?
I am a medical transcriptionist and I work from home typing x-rays all day long. I love it!
What is your favorite snack food?
Favorite snack food: Hmm. Brownies. Especially peanut butter chip brownies.
If you were stranded on a desert island what would you want to have with you?
On a tropical island, I would definitely still have to have my iPhone so I could update my statuses. "Ate coconut for lunch today FML"
If you met Sue and Charlotte in real life what would you say to them?
If I met Sue & Charlotte in real life I would smother them with hugs and tell them how much I love them. True story.

You can see why we are friends and why you should be her friend too!

Scores are up! Week 2 (beer week)

OK here are the scores for week 2!
Hope you all enjoyed a frosty cold one while bowling. It helped some and hurt others.

Some highlights!

  • Our most improved bowler- Bob who shot up 95 pins. Beth also improved 60 pins! Not surprising since they had only had their wii for less than 24 hours the first week. Nice job Bob!
  • Carter also moved up in the rankings- no surprise on beer week!
  • Our first place bowler- Jessica also improved her score an amazing 55 pins!
  • There was a 95 pin difference between first and last place this week.
  • Our average THIS week was 176-- pretty respectable.
  • 15 bowlers are bowling above the league average!!

Next week is tunes week! That's right- blast some great music while you play. Make sure to send in the name of the song or type of music you bowl to and we can see what music makes a champion!
If you click on the table it will open up larger!
Also- watch the mail for a special surprise! That is all I am saying for now......
Bob's improved score! Nice mii Bob!

Carter improves on BEER week!

Jessica was the top score but her photo wouldn't load for some reason so here is Andrew her husband with his frosty beverage!

Bowler of the Day!

This is my friend (and yours now too!) Billie. Billie lives here in PA near us. We met Billie because she is a nanny and nannies clump together like that.

Billie still is a nanny part time, but mostly she spends her time wiping up drool from her beautiful baby girl Sammy. She also has to take care of Joe her grouchy but lovable husband. Joe is afraid to bowl with us because he knows I will beat him.

Billie enjoys reading and chatting with me. She probably also likes pina coladas and getting caught in the rain but that is an entirely different song. Billie is funny and smart. She is the kind of person who tells it like it is and who you can say anything to. I like that about her.

There you go! A virtual introduction. Be careful you never know who will be the bowler of the day next!

Here are the results!

Well, it looks like it is going to be a tight race!

Here are some stats!

  • the top score was 233 the bottom score 99-- the difference between the two is 134 pins
  • the bowler average was 154
  • there are 9 bowlers that bowled between 169 and 190
  • 5 bowlers achieved a score of more than 200
Congrats to Charlotte, Adrienne and Tonia for their winning week! But it is early on my friends, and it is anybody's game!
Charlotte's High Score

Adrienne! Thumbs up!

Tonia achieves a personal best!

Wednesday, January 20, 2010

Welcome!

Ok! So here is the blog for the bowling league!
Looks snazzy huh?? It is all Charlotte- thanks to her.

I am compiling scores and will post the first week's results soon. We had some technical difficulties for a few bowlers so it may be delayed until tomorrow but usually I will have the scores up first thing Wednesday.

You will be glad to know our league is composed of 25 people! We have bowlers in PA, AZ, MI, VA, OH, MD, IL and NJ.

We have bowlers ranging in age from 7 to 40+. So watch your language when you smack talk. Us 40+ people have a sensitivity to bad language.

Our league will have a traveling trophy! I am designing it now. Your name will be engraved on the trophy and you shall keep it until the next person gets it! It needs a name. I wanted to call it the Susan cup (ya know like the Stanley cup) but that is not so catchy. Any suggestions?

OK. that is all for now... but more to come soon.
